Tokyo Revengers

Written at the end of S1 E1 Tokyo Revengers: Another dumb title, and the premise is the very essence of Japanese wish fulfilment -- an unfulfilled loser in his 30s becomes a highschooler again, and gets a second chance. But, it's because of Time Travel, my favorite mechanism for any story, and there's a little bit of spice in it, as the time travel isn't just a one-and-done event, promising something a little more than "guy goes back in time and is suddenly a super chad at everything". If you're going to pick a wild card, this season, this might be it.

Vivi - Fluorite Eye's Song

Written at the end of S1 E2. Vivi - Fluorite Eye's Song is an anime with a really dumb name, and the blurb sounds like it's an excuse to put AMVs on public television, e.g. Symphogear, which I'm not into. Fortunately, it turns out to be a lot more action than singing, and it's very nicely animated to boot. TL;DR: AI Robot built to sing is tasked with preventing an AI singularity in the future. (And not with the power of song and friendship.) Being a sucker for time travel, Artificial Intelligence with laws, and robots, you can see why it's ticking my boxes, but I'm also getting that vibe from it that says this one actually had a budget and it's not just trying to sell a toy or a book. Still airing, so we'll see how it pans out, but if Violet Evergarden and Ghost in the Shell were your jam, I'd say give it a go. (Or put this on the "circle back in three months" list if you're the sort who only marathons a series.)

High Rise Invasion

Written at S1 E6 High Rise Invasion: Daft title, cringe intro, more panty shots and booba than is strictly necessary, and a lot of handwaving and (I think) wild swings in personality; but all the fights seem to run on JoJo-like twists and gambits, and they've all been pretty wild so far. It's clearly here for a good time, not a sensible or dramatic time that holds up to scrutiny and literary analysis. I took the dip because it's on Netflix; it's not bad, and it'd make the cut if I could erase events from my past, but it's not super memorable. It's Okay.
